2014 Tweed Ride

The after party at Firkin on King

FirkinOnKing_LogoAs is tradition, the Tweed Ride ends with a smashing party in the evening where riders will have a chance to unwind and share the celebration of the day! There are a few differences from prior years for this year's party that veteran riders should be aware of.

First off, the location has changed for 2014. In former years the fabulous Dovercourt House has hosted the Tweed Ride party with roaring success and in future years returning the Dovercourt House may be a possibility. But for this year, the amazing Firkin on King has stepped up to the task and is providing space in their basement area right downtown on the historic King street strip. Unlike many of the Firkin pubs that have undergone a great re branding referencing a sort of "brit-pop, post punk feel", the King Street location has retained it's heritage style as befits the magnificent building it resides in.

Also of importance, it should be noted that also unlike former years, dinner is not included with your registration price. To be totally transparent, Bikes Without Borders simply did not have the budget to provide dinner for registrants this year. However, we have negotiated with the Firkin to have an affordable dinner and drink special for our riders.

BUT! There will be entertainment and of course the prize give aways will be announced including ride prizes and a silent auction with some great donated goodies to bid on. All proceeds of course go to Bikes Without Borders.

10682138_10154504641155214_1002489796_nPrizes you and an auction you say? Indeed! While prize donations are still coming in, we're please to say that our friends down at Steam Whistle are kicking in some great Bike Caddies and cases of beer. We also have Craft Brand Co. donating micro brew goodies as well as other donations in the form of bike themed sterling silver jewelry, art pieces and more!

To entertain everyone during the party we have electro-swing DJ Amanda Raygun coming in to spin for a few hours with her incredible meld of modern beats with classics from the jazz age. So make sure after the tea you jump on the second ride that will eventually bring you to the Firkin on King for a grand old time. Here's a mix of what you might expect from Amanda!

One more thing! Bike Parking! Again due to our budget, we're not able to provide the bike valet service, but we have scouted the Firkin on King area and have determined that there is ample ring posts and bike parking areas both on Spadina and on both sides of King street. Finding parking should not be a problem.

The address of the Firkin on King is 461 King St. West. The party will be held in the Basement area.
