It’s way too hot for energetic music just now, so here are a couple of gentle, lilting Scottish ballads to chill out to.

The first is “Down In The Glen”, made famous by the Scottish Tenor Robert Wilson. I often play this with the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra – If you ever get the chance to see us live , don’t miss it!!

The second is the theme from the 1969 movie that launched the career of Dame Maggie Smith – The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. Set in 1930’s Edinburgh, the song “Jean” by Rod McKuen sets the scene so well. This piece was a favourite of a dear friend and organist who recently passed away, Larry McGuire. I will always think of Larry when I hear this song.

Music played on the Paramount Organ Works – Paramount 341 virtual organ in Hauptwerk.
