A 3-day adventure ride in October, 2014 with my dad around Ontario’s highlands wrapped up into a short 5 minute video. He’s riding his XL1000V Honda Varadero and I’m on my XT1200Z Yamaha Super Tenere.
After reading a review of the ride in the Toronto Star we set out to do it ourselves. We followed the highlands loop (more info: http://ridethehighlands.ca/en/routes/motorcycle-tour-ride-the-highlands-loop/19) which is basically a 1000km journey with hallmarks such as the Ottawa River, Rideau Canal, Algonquin Park, Centennial Lake Road, Calabogie, Tweed, etc.
We definitely didn’t get lucky with the weather. We had drizzle, rain, high winds, cold temps and even hail which you see us riding through at the end of our journey! Luckily we caught some sunshine a few times but it was mostly cold and wet the entire ride.
I look forward to heading back to this area, there was some spectacular roads and great scenery. It’ll definitely be in the summer though!
